Terms of Service — EconLens

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of EconLens (the "App"), operated by Kushal S Shah ("we", "our", or "us"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using any feature of EconLens, you confirm that you are at least 13 years of age, have read and understood these Terms, and agree to be bound by them.

2. Description of Service

EconLens is an economic event tracking and portfolio awareness tool. The App aggregates publicly available economic data — including releases from the Federal Reserve Economic Data (FRED) API and other public sources — enriches that data using AI analysis, and presents it alongside optional portfolio personalisation features.

3. No Financial Advice

EconLens does not provide financial advice, investment advice, trading recommendations, or any other form of professional financial guidance.

• All content in the App — including economic event summaries, AI-generated impact assessments, sector exposure scores, portfolio overlap indicators, and historical return statistics — is provided for informational and educational purposes only.
• Nothing in the App constitutes a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security, fund, or other financial instrument.
• Past economic data and historical return statistics displayed in the App are not indicative of future results.
• You are solely responsible for any investment decisions you make. We strongly encourage you to conduct your own research and consult a qualified financial adviser before making any investment decision.
• We are not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer, or financial planner. We do not hold any regulatory licence to provide financial advice in any jurisdiction.

4. Eligibility and Accounts

You must be at least 13 years old to use the App. By using the App you represent that you meet this requirement.

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at privacy@econlens.ai if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.

5. Subscriptions and Payments

EconLens is currently free while in public beta. The App may offer optional auto-renewing subscriptions managed through RevenueCat and the Apple App Store. Where offered, subscription terms, pricing, and renewal policies are governed by Apple's standard subscription terms, and refunds are subject to Apple's refund policy.

We reserve the right to introduce or change subscription pricing with reasonable notice. Continued use of a paid subscription after a price change constitutes acceptance of the new price.

6. Brokerage Data (Optional Feature)

You may connect a brokerage account via SnapTrade. By connecting a brokerage account you authorise EconLens to retrieve read-only portfolio holdings on your behalf. We cannot and will not execute trades, transfer funds, or modify your brokerage account in any way. See our Privacy Policy for details on how brokerage data is stored and used.

Brokerage data shown in the App reflects information retrieved from SnapTrade at the time of the last sync. It may not reflect real-time balances or positions. Do not rely on App-displayed portfolio data for trading decisions.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law or regulation
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
• Scrape, harvest, or systematically extract data from the App
• Use the App to transmit malware, spam, or any harmful content
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the App or its backend systems
• Use the App in any way that could damage, disable, or impair its operation

8. Intellectual Property

EconLens, its design, code, and content (excluding publicly available economic data sourced from third-party APIs) are owned by Kushal S Shah. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use our trademarks, logos, or brand assets.

Economic data displayed in the App is sourced from public APIs (FRED, etc.) and is subject to those providers' own terms.

9. Third-Party Services

The App integrates with third-party services including Google Firebase, SnapTrade, RevenueCat, Sentry, and AI providers. Your use of those services is subject to their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices of any third-party service.

10. Disclaimers

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses. We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any economic data or AI-generated content displayed in the App.

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, KUSHAL SHAH SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE APP.

IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR $100 USD IF YOU HAVE NOT MADE ANY PAYMENT.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time if you breach these Terms or if we decide to discontinue the App. You may stop using the App and delete your account at any time from Settings → Profile → Delete Account.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved exclusively in the courts located in California.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top and, for material changes, notify you within the App. Continued use of the App after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
