Privacy Policy — EconLens

Last updated: 2026-07-19

This Privacy Policy explains how Kushal S Shah ("we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, and protects information when you use EconLens (the "App"). By using the App, you agree to this policy.

1. What information we collect

1.1 Information you provide when you sign in

When you sign in using Google or Apple, the App receives the following from the identity provider:

Data Source How we use it
Display name Google / Apple Shown in your profile within the App
Email address Google / Apple Account identification; support contact
Profile photo URL Google Displayed in your profile (Apple does not provide a photo)

We do not collect your password. Authentication is handled entirely by the identity provider (Google or Apple). We never see your credentials.

Apple Sign In note: Apple may provide a private relay email address if you chose "Hide My Email." We treat this the same as a regular email address and do not attempt to de-anonymize it.

1.2 Google Sheets integration (optional)

If you connect Google Sheets export (an optional feature), the App requests OAuth permission to read and write one specific Google Sheet that you select. We use this access solely to export your EconLens economic event data to that Sheet on your behalf.

1.3 Brokerage connection data (optional)

If you connect a brokerage account using SnapTrade (an optional feature), the App retrieves read-only portfolio holdings on your behalf:

Data Source How we use it
Portfolio holdings (tickers, quantities, market values) SnapTrade Investments API (read-only) Personalising economic event impact scores to your portfolio
Institution name SnapTrade Displaying which brokerage you have connected

1.4 Usage data and app analytics

We collect limited operational data to keep the App running correctly:

We do not collect advertising identifiers, behavioral tracking data, or browsing history.

1.5 Content displayed in the App

EconLens displays economic event data enriched by an AI pipeline — including indicator forecasts, market impact assessments, and historical context. This content is sourced from public APIs (FRED and other public economic data sources) and stored in Google Cloud Firestore. No personal data is included in AI enrichment requests.
